Every year the Ampcontrol Group make this award as part of its Community Relations Program. The award recognises those who contribute countless unpaid hours to organisations within the community.

This year, fending off stiff global competition, the recipient is Brian Wilson, Senior Electronics Engineer at Allenwest Wallacetown Ltd.

Brian’s contributions include the following

Air Training Corps
Brian is a Squadron Leader responsible for 5 squadrons in the West Scotland Area; he also assists with training cadets two nights a week, Adventure Training Weekends, gliding and flying days and week long camps.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Brian is the Wild Country Expedition Co-ordinator for the Galloway Hills expedition area, he assesses groups at all levels for the award.

Carrick Community Transport Group
Brian is Managing Director of the transport group who operate 3x17 seat minibuses that can be used by any organisation in South Ayrshire. Brian has been involved in raising funds, which have resulted in 3 new vehicles in the past 3 years.

Clic Sargeant
This is a charity that gives holiday breaks for families where one of the children has cancer. Brian’s involvement includes driving the minibus, collecting or taking families from the airport or out to local attractions, also helping fundraising which include the “nip and dip” Boxing Day sea plunge. On Christmas Day Brian takes on the role of Santa Claus and delivers the presents to the Clic Sargeant house with the help of the Sea King helicopter from the Royal Navy.
